Theme: Faith & Finance
The 2009 National Prayer Breakfast was held at the Macdonald Houstoun House Hotel Uphall on 27th May. Some 250 guests attended from all across Scotland.
Our host was Mr Alex Fergusson MSP, the Presiding Officer at the Scottish Parliament. Mr Paul Martin MSP chaired the event which had as its theme, ‘Faith & Finance’. This theme was addressed by our guest speaker Mr Andy Brookes Advisor, in market reform at AON Ltd International Insurance Brokers London. Mr Brookes also led Time for Reflection later in the day at the Scottish Parliament.
Prayers were led by Rt Rev Joseph Toal, RC Bishop of Argyll and the Isles; Mr Dennis Overton Managing Director Aquascot Ltd Alness; Miss Fiona Macdonald, Scottish Bible Society; and Mr Dave Thompson MSP; The Prayer for the Nation was led by Sir Tom Farmer CVO CBE KCSG DL.
A musical interlude was provided by Miss Ruth Box, Woodhill Evangelical Church Bishopbriggs, accompanied by Mr Ian Watson Musical Director of Praise Gathering. The closing benediction was given by the Rev Dave Richards, Rector of St Paul’s & St Georges, Edinburgh.
The Breakfast was followed by a challenging Seminar on Faith & Finance, led by Mr Andy Brookes and Mr Dennis Overton which was attended by approximately one hundred guests.
